Boulevard Blancho
Redevelopment of Boulevard Blancho and requalification of the banks of the Loire.
The river banks were widened by reducing the number of parking spaces and making the street narrower, thereby creating a walking path along the Loire river.
The redevelopment efforts have helped reduce traffic, improved quality of life for residents and provided a place to stroll along the Loire.
On the banks of the Loire, the roadway was reduced to 6 m wide to create pedestrian walkways. There is a bicycle lane on the road and a dedicated bike path along the river banks. An upper walkway has also been built along the boulevard. Disabled access is available for reaching the lower walkway along the river. Taking advantage of the existing trees, elevated vista points were built to allow people to admire the Loire. The streets now serve just the immediate neighbourhood.
On Rue Sebilleau and Rue Zamenhof, the roadway was reduced from 4 lanes to 2 to make room for broad pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths for enhanced pathway continuity.Type of project : Public Spaces
