Boulevard du Général de Gaulle
Conversion of boulevard Général de Gaulle into an urban boulevard.
The renovation of the Boulevard du Général de Gaulle, which began in 2005, transformed this former thoroughfare into an urban boulevard shared by cars, dedicated lane public transportation, pedestrians and bicycles.
The boulevard has been totally transformed. Once a barrier, with underground passages for pedestrians and bikes, there are now crosswalks that make it easy to get from one side to the other.
The renovations calm the traffic, promote soft mobility and link neighbourhoods with streets that are easy to cross. In November 2006, line 4 of the Busway began running down the centre of the boulevard Général de Gaulle.
