At the heart of the new Foundries district, the Les Forges residence for young working people (45 social apartments) is the first phase in the redevelopment of the Port-Beaulieu young workers foyer.

The Port-Beaulieu residence was redeveloped between 2006 and 2009, with 4 new or renovated buildings and 2 buildings demolished. The residence is managed by the Nantes company Adélis.

With the completion of Les Forges building on rue Louis Joxe, the demolition-reconstruction of the main building of the young workers foyer could begin. The first residents moved in in September 2007, to allow for the demolition of a building on Boulevard Vincent Gâche.

The new Les Forges foyer is located across from the Foundries Garden in a renovated warehouse. This development receives funding from the European Commission for its energy efficiency, under the act2 Project of the Concerto Initiative.
