The Warehouses
Rehabilitation of the Warehouses
These large industrial warehouses were once used for shipbuilding. After being used as commercial warehouses, they were restored under the shipyard redevelopment project. They house a covered space of over 10,000 sq. m in continuity with the outdoor public spaces. The east and west facades are clad in metal or translucent panels, and the gables are equipped with a curtain system featuring large, brightly-coloured vinyl sheets.
The warehouses are designed to host various ongoing programs and temporary events in independent spaces installed under the covered structure. In the summer of 2007, the Machine Workshop and the Machine Gallery were set up on either side of a central alley running north-south where the Great Elephant walks.
La Fabrique will be adjacent to the south-eastern part of the Warehouses.
