Léopold Sédar Senghor Bridge

A new bridge on the Bras de Pirmil (south shore)

The Léopold Sédar Senghor bridge connects the Quai Dumont d’Urville on the Ile de Nantes to the Boulevard des Pas Enchantés in Saint-Sébastien sur Loire.

The project selected (Marc Mimram Ingénierie/Map/Stucky) is a twin box girder bridge supported by 5 pilings in the Loire. It is 300 m long and 17.15 m wide, accessible to pedestrian, bicycles and vehicles.

The bridge was designed with careful attention to the quality of the Loire landscape. It enhances the views of the sky and the horizon, varying with the tides. The bridge features sophisticated geometry resulting from new manufacturing technologies, with vehicle lanes in the middle to allow pedestrians and bicyclists to enjoy the magnificent views of the river.
