Project Philosophy

The Ile de Nantes project is owned by Nantes Metropole and the City of Nantes, supported by the Samoa and managed by the Atelier de l'île de Nantes.

It is an open project that can be modified as initiatives are proposed. It reflects urban planning at its best, with input from all of the stakeholders, be they public, private, associations, groups or individuals. This input is the basis for the urban project, along with the public policies of the City and the conurbation.

Alexandre Chemetoff's development plan is a reference guide, not a regulation or an operating procedure, and as such it reflects the ability of the project to change. It incorporates the major themes of the urban project: Treat the island globally, transform the public spaces, re-connect the city with the river and enhance the existing.  The development plan is updated regularly and serves as a guide for short-term actions to support the long-term vision for the area.
